Jeffrey and I had ourselves a great weekend after our first week back to work. We started out the weekend with zero plans...but of course, Friday at around 5, it managed to fill up quickly!
Friday:
Friday night, Jeff and I got a call from our friends Lyndsey and Spencer. Spencer found out last week that he was getting deployed sooner than expected (he wasn't supposed to leave until February), so they ended their Christmas break in Kansas City early and raced home to get ready. We all went to dinner on Friday, and Spencer left on Sunday. Spencer is our first friend from Jeff's MH-60R (the type of helicopter they fly, Romeos) class who is getting deployed. Spencer and Lyndsey are also our first military couple friends who are expecting a baby! Baby boy Coday is due in the spring, so we hope Spencer is home before he is born! It was a bittersweet night, but it was fun to be with friends again! This was our first "social" hang out since we've been married, so it was kind of a big deal. :) We went to a Hibachi Grill called Fuji in Mission Valley - it was mighty tasty.
Saturday:

| Pacific Beach Fish Shop - one of my favorite places in San Diego. |
On Saturday, while Jeff was cleaning up his loft in downtown, thank goodness he let me off the hook, I met up with some of my work girlfriends at PB Fish Shop for several hours. We had ourselves a good time, had some good grub, and shared lots of laughter. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I snapped!
Sunday:
Jeffrey and I hit up one of our favorite spots - Torrey Pines State Reserve. We just don't get here often enough, so we made sure to find some time to squeeze it in this weekend. As you can see based on the pictures below, it was a beautiful day! Aren't all days in San Diego beautiful though? Yes. We finished our adventure off by eating at BBQ Republic. Jeff and I have been on a mission, which was flopping, to find some decent bbq in San Diego. Finally, a co-worker took me here several weeks ago and I had my first California bbq a-ha moment. I couldn't wait to take Jeff to it to see what he thought. He liked it - score!! You have to go in open minded however, because it isn't a Texas bbq style buffet joint. It's no Rudy's, CJ's, or Goode Co...but it's still yummy in the tummy.
And of course, we finished off the night with some good ole Friday Night Lights and Tim Riggins. :)
