Jeff's Birthday!

It's Jeffrey's 25th birthday today!! Yes, he's engaged to a cougar. I'm a whole 3 months and 19 days older than him! :) We had a great day together, and I know he felt celebrated and loved. Now that we're "old" our birthdays aren't quite as fun and special as when we were kids. I mean the mere fact that we still have to show up to work and do our jobs on our very own BIRTHDAYS proves enough. What's happening to this world??

I was originally starting to plan a little surprise get together for Jeff's birthday...but as I was putting it together I thought about it and realized...hmm, I'm not sure how thrilled he'd be about this. So I spoke to him about his upcoming birthday, what he wanted, etc and all he really cared about was hanging out with me. I told him about my plan of at least organizing something and having a get together but he took my idea of grilling out at my place and said it sounded like fun, but as he continued to talk about it, he basically eliminated the other people from the equation. So long story short, Jeff's not one of those guys that needs a big "to do" for his birthday. Which is nice and something I appreciate about him. Thus, we'll just have to have people over to my place and grill out NOT in honor of Jeff's birthday. Whatever makes him feel better.

So, immediately after I left work I headed over to his place in downtown. I had three cards for him to open. One was a regular birthday love card, and the other two were gifts (written on cards I made). The first one saying I would treat him to any dinner of his choice (probably Fudruckers) and the second card said I would treat both him and I to a kayak excursion across the ocean. :) I made it sound more dramatic and cooler than it actually is, but I've done it before in La Jolla and it is really fun. He was pretty excited about it. And his last and final gift was a cookie cake from Mrs Fields (ain't NOTHING compared to what us southern folk were raised with...shout out to Great American Cookie Co! Please bring your chain to California...they desperately need it here). I definitely didn't over do it in the gifts department and kept it small (which was hard for me).

Do you want to know where he chose to go to dinner? Yep. Fudruckers. Apparently, he already saw that one coming because he told me after he opened his gifts that he had purposefully chosen his calories carefully today to save up for his Fudruckers meal. Ha - he's a funny one.

Another funny thing is that as we were leaving, we stopped off at the front desk to see if his package from his parents had arrived. I had a feeling that his mom would send him a cookie cake...we tend to have the same ideas. So when we got the box and it said Mrs Fields I started laughing. Then, as we opened the box I made a joke about it being the same cake I got for him. But nooo, probably not, because the one I got for him had balloons on it and it looked like it would be more for a kid. Well, guess what? He got TWO of the exact same cookie cakes!! We laughed about that one. What are the odds?

It was a simple birthday, but he kept on saying over and over how happy he was and how much he loved everything. I think the important thing for him was that we were together. He told me his favorite part of the day was getting to be with me. I asked him what his second favorite part of the day was...and he said "getting to eat at Fudruckers...with you".

The more we're together, the happier we are. And I'm just so thankful so be living in the same city with him again! You don't realize the things you take for granted until you don't have them anymore...and on days like today, when Jeff looks at me and says "I'm so happy you live here" I know things are just...so right.

HAPPY 25TH BIRFDAY G-FAVE.
